Dozvedeli sme sa viac o&nbsp;stavoch a&nbsp;zmen\u00e1ch stavu jednotliv\u00fdch procesov. Zvy\u0161ovanie po\u010dtu procesorov je prirodzenou odpove\u010fou na r\u00fdchly n\u00e1rast po\u017eiadaviek aplik\u00e1ci\u00ed a&nbsp;s\u00fa\u010dasne limitov zvy\u0161ovania v\u00fdkonu jedin\u00e9ho CPU. Opera\u010dn\u00fd syst\u00e9m teda m\u00f4\u017ee \u00falohy rozde\u013eova\u0165 medzi viacer\u00e9 fyzick\u00e9 procesory (alebo jadr\u00e1), pri\u010dom tieto procesy s\u00fa nez\u00e1visl\u00e9 a&nbsp;m\u00f4\u017eu be\u017ea\u0165 s\u00fabe\u017ene. Program\u00e1tori m\u00f4\u017eu vyu\u017ei\u0165 v\u00fdhody viacer\u00fdch procesorov a&nbsp;svoje \u00falohy rozdeli\u0165 na viacero s\u00fabe\u017en\u00fdch pod\u00faloh. Tieto u\u017e ale nie s\u00fa nez\u00e1visl\u00e9 a&nbsp;v\u00e4\u010d\u0161inou je potrebn\u00e9, aby medzi sebou navz\u00e1jom komunikovali. Jedna \u00faloha \u2013 proces m\u00f4\u017ee ma\u0165 teda viacero samostatn\u00fdch tokov riadenia, ktor\u00e9 naz\u00fdvame vl\u00e1kna (threads) a&nbsp;ktor\u00e9 zdie\u013eaj\u00fa v\u00e4\u010d\u0161inu prostriedkov tohto procesu, vr\u00e1tane pam\u00e4te. Z&nbsp;poh\u013eadu architekt\u00fary to m\u00f4\u017ee vyzera\u0165 ako na obr\u00e1zku ilustruj\u00facom sch\u00e9mu <strong>symetrick\u00e9ho multiprocesorov\u00e9ho syst\u00e9mu<\/strong> (Obr. 2), kde je jedna pam\u00e4\u0165 zdie\u013ean\u00e1 viacer\u00fdmi rovnocenn\u00fdmi procesormi (architekt\u00fara <strong>UMA<\/strong> &#8211; Uniform Memory Access). Tu je potrebn\u00e9 o\u0161etri\u0165 synchroniz\u00e1ciu pr\u00edstupu k&nbsp;tejto spolo\u010dnej pam\u00e4ti, \u010do je mo\u017en\u00e9 urobi\u0165 viacer\u00fdmi sp\u00f4sobmi. Tento pr\u00edstup pozn\u00e1me ako <strong>NUMA<\/strong> \u2013 Non-Uniform Memory Access. Tu je najv\u00fdhodnej\u0161ie, ak OS alokuje \u00falohe pam\u00e4\u0165 pre d\u00e1ta \u010do najbli\u017e\u0161ie k&nbsp;procesoru, na ktorom \u00faloha be\u017e\u00ed.
